Homemade Granola Bars

It's been a long time since I have posted a recipe on this blog!  However with the kids back in school and the weather cooling off, I think it's time to get back in the kitchen and get some baking done!  I have adopted Wednesday's as my 'day to hang around the home'.  No errands, no gym, no meetings...just getting work done around the home and on my business. So..yesterday I whipped up an old favorite of ours....homemade granola bars!  Here is the recipe...(originally posted in Feb 2010)

Soft and Chewy Granola Bars

The Vegetarian Cookbook by Nava Atlas

3/4 cup whole wheat flour

2 T ground flaxseed or wheat germ

1/2 t baking soda

2 T sugar

Pinch of salt

1/2 cup applesauce

1 T oil

1 cup granola (homemade or store bought)

1/2 cup raisins or currants

1/2 cup natural chocolate chips or peanut butter chips

1. Preheat over to 350. Lightly oil a 9 x 9 inch baking pan

2. Combine the flour, flaxseeds/wheat germ, baking soda, sugar and salt in a mixing bowl and stir.

3. Make a well in the center and pour in the applesauce and oil. Stir together until the wet and dry ingredients are completely mixed, then stir in granola, raisins, and chips.

4. Pour the batter into pan and bake for 20-25 minutes. Let cool until just warm, then cut.

Enjoy!

Feature Friday: How Sweet It Is Top

How Sweet it is! I love this top and now that the evenings are cooling off here in Colorado I can finally wear it!  I love how the color is darker at the bottom and lighter at the top..it looks super cool!  And the embroidery is amazing and very detailed.  Such a fun to top to wear for any occasion!

In this photo I have the How Sweet It Is Top paired with our Flare Yoga Pants and it is such a comfortable outfit!  I am so glad I added the How Sweet It Is Top to my wardrobe and can't wait for chilly fall days so I can rock it around town!  ~Suzy

Feature Friday: Old Growth Tee

The Old Growth Tee is so comfortable and cute that I could literally live in it!  The organic cotton and bamboo combo makes it oh-so soft and the feminine cut drapes, not clings to, the curves.   I love the fact that it can be dressed up or down, depending on your mood.  Another great purchase from HMM! ~Shanna

Feature Friday: Sooper Hooper Shirt

The Sooper Hooper Shirt is so rockin! It has quickly become my go-to summer shirt. It is by far one of the most comfortable shirts I own! (And I dress for comfort!) The sizing is really great! I have a small frame, but a super long torso, so I find shirts are typically too short for me.

But the hooper shirt is nice and long and has the great asymmetrical hemline on the sides! I am also pretty busty right now, what with a nursling and all, and this top, even in a small, was not too tight for me! The organic cotton fabric is super soft, but breathes well, and the loose, flowy design lets in air during those hot sticky days. I love the short cap-like sleeves too!

 I wear this shirt with capri leggings, shorts and jeans (because it goes with EVERYTHING!) but my favorite is to wear it with my other HMM fave, the flare yoga pants!

It is so comfortable and fits so nice that I can do anything in this shirt. Dress it up, dress it down, play with the kiddo, do housework, go out on a date or a girls' night - it's so fun and diverse! The Sooper Hooper Shirt has earned me many compliments from my husband, and has earned many points with me! I love it - so I better take up hooping... ;) ~Julia

CC, my youngest daughter, loves to grab the guitar and play me songs.  She says she likes to play sad songs and so she sits and has her own little jam sessions.  One of the perks to working from home is getting to listen to this while I work!

Feature Friday: Chocolate Tree Tee

I love the Chocolate Tree Tee!  It's super soft and a little on the thin side so it's perfect for those warm days and nights of summer.  It isn't so thin that you need to wear something underneath, and that's why it's so perfect.  The length is average and isn't really long or short which adds to its versatility.

I've worn the Chocolate Tree Tee with long skirts (I'm wearing the recycled silk skirt in some pictures!), short skirts, jeans, shorts, you name it!  The beautiful chocolate brown goes with just about every other color in the rainbow, so it's a no-brainer when deciding what to wear when this tee is clean and in my closet.  I also love that it's made of organic cotton so a simple machine wash and line dry gets it clean and it still feels just as soft as the day it arrived from Hip Mountain Mama.

The graphic on the front says "Live the Life you Love", and really, who can't relate to that?  Whenever I put it on, it's a wonderful reminder to make daily choices for myself and my family that will lead us to peace, love, and happiness.  The Chocolate Tree Tee makes a regular appearance in my outfits, and I think it will in yours as well! ~Olivia
