Feature Friday: Summer Swing Dress

The Summer Swing Dress arrived just in time for fun spring days in Florida!  This dress is so airy and light it is perfect for the warm days ahead in the south.  It is super roomy and very flowy.  It does run large, so I bought one size smaller than usual and it still provides enough room in case I indulge in one too many brownies or brews!

The Summer Swing Dress has adjustable straps using buttons and elastic in the back to accommodate various chest sizes. It is pretty low-cut, even on the last button, but the buttons could easily be moved up, the straps criss-crossed or tied halter style if that bothers you.  It's perfect for me or any other nursing mama out there, which is hard to find in a dress.  I love that this dress is fair trade and each one is unique.

You will surely see me running around in The Summer Swing Dress all summer long!

Wild Flower Head Wrap

I've been sharing my Wild Flower Head Wrap with my little helper a lot lately as it has become her favorite accessory. But I don't mind...it looks so cute on her I am happy to share!  Love that I have found a head band that works great for my hair and my daughters.  This head wrap is made with hemp and organic cotton and ties in the back so you can make it fit just right!  To check out more photos or to purchase your own Wild Flower Head Wrap, you can go herePin It

We are enjoying some beautiful Spring weather here in CO.  Have spent the past few days playing in rivers, hiking, eating meals outside, and playing in the backyard.  Bare feet, skirts, and lots of smiles!  Living is easy!

Naturally Fun Parties For Kids: Giveaway!

I was recently sent a copy of Naturally Fun Parties for Kids and it came at just the right time.  My daughter, Magnolia, was getting ready to celebrate her 8th birthday and we were in need of some party ideas.  We flipped through the book and several ideas peaked our interest.  Magnolia decided on the natural spa party for her and a few girlfriends.  The book offers several different party theme ideas and walks you through every step which you can follow or just get ideas and do your own thing.

We selected the chocolate facial and lavender foot soak for the girls.  Magnolia and I made the face mask using cocoa powder, oats, honey, cottage cheese, and yogurt...it was good enough to eat (the recipe is available in the book)!

The girls had a blast with the face masks and foot soaks and Magnolia had an 8th birthday party she will never forget!  A few other ideas from the book are pancake pajama party, beach party, upcycle art party, and community cooking party.  If you have kids ages 5-13 and plan to have parties with them, this is a must have book!

Today Anni and Heather (the authors) are giving away a copy of Naturally Fun Parties For Kids to 1 lucky winner!  Stop by the facebook page and 'like' it, then come back here and comment for a chance to win.  I will announce the winner on Wednesday April 25th  Good Luck!

Congrats to Wabisabinaturals for winning a copy of Naturally Fun Parties for kids!!

Feature Friday: Kids Patchwork Pants

This modish Hudson (River) Valley Mama has to give these Patchwork Pants a colossal thumbs up for being just adorable! The colors ARE earthy, reminding me of a fertile forest landscape in the beginning of spring! They are soft and lightweight and in my estimation the placement of the patches camouflage all dirt found while out in the yard, at the park and even disguise PAINT! These pants boast cavernous side pockets for collecting kid treasures! I have found stones, sticks, cool leaves, smaller toys, crayons, etc...  They do haul around quite a bit without looking bulky. The drawstring is perfect of you have a tall, SLIM kiddo like mine that needs the length but also needs the waist a bit smaller/ adjustable. My little man is 4.5 years old and about 37 pounds. We ordered a Large (6) and, they fit very well. I’m going to have to get another pair in the XL (8) because pretty soon these will be too short.  I already have a few Mamas’ waiting in line for these as hand-me-down’s.
My apologies for the “action shots” but, as you can see from the photos, the kiddies have unhindered range of motion in these cotton/hemp patchwork pants!
We really DO adore these pants!

Make sure you wash before wearing. We normally do anyway but, these required a little extra aid in that department. They still look just as intense as when they arrived even after all the laundering!  My little one has sensitive skin and we take no chances around here. We also do a reasonable amount of laundry here so; this wasn’t a large concern for us. They are well worth the modest amount of work involved.

Another out of this world product brought to you by the kind folks at Hip Mountain Mama!

Feature Friday: Leaf Tote

This beautiful Leaf Tote needs to be renamed "The Little Big Mountain Mama Tote"!  As a mother to my 7 month old, I have gotten used to carrying around what feels like a giant bulky suitcase of baby paraphernalia, sprinkled with a couple of my personal every day items.  So when I purchased the Leaf Tote, I expected to only use it when I got alone time or did quick errands.  I was wrong!  This tote is small but mighty and can fit several diapers, wipes, cell phone, planner, toys, and more!  I was pleasantly surprised!  It is much lighter for me and much more stylish than the usual diaper bag.  Of course, this is also now my go-to tote for alone time as well!  And this bag was handmade by Community Friendly Movement in New Delhi. Their mission is to create prosperity for artisan communities through fair wages, a safe work environment, and the preservation of valuable traditional skills. ~Ashley

Getting Away

The Hip Mountain Mama Gals took the week off and headed to Texas last week.  It was a much needed vacation away from day to day living where we enjoyed lots of quality family time.  We spent our days flying kites, playing at parks, relaxing on the patio, and a little pampering.  There is nothing like getting away for a bit and enjoying a new pace of life. Pin It

Feature Friday: Hemp Handbag

I absolutely love The Hemp Handbag! It's what I lovingly refer to as my "dressy hippie purse." It's so cute with the weave of the hemp and the variation of colors. I love the blue lining that peeks through, too! It's got a zippered pocket on the inside that is plenty big enough to keep important things separate like ID and credit card, or to conceal personal items!

When I first received The Hemp Handbag I was concerned it would be too small for all my items, but it holds much more than it appears it will!  I was also concerned that it wouldn't be sturdy enough for me. I haul around plenty of junk in addition to at least one full sippy cup and snack bag for my toddler... I've had the bag for several weeks now and it has absolutely held up. I've crammed it full and slung it around here and there and it shows no sign of weakness or give.

I love that this bag still has the breezy, earthy hippie look I adore, but is dressy enough to carry at a wedding or a meeting. It is the perfect size for a woman on the go, with room to spare and share with the kiddos! Two thumbs up for The Hemp Handbag...dressy enough for a fancy event, but sturdy enough for everyday use! Love it!
