When we were in Estes Park last week we visited Rocky Mountain National Park several times. One afternoon, after a morning hike, some lunch, and sitting by the river, we decided to head back to the park to check out an amazing water fall.
The Alluvial Fan is an incredible water fall that you can walk right up to and take in it's powerful presence. While sitting next to the water fall and staring into it's intense nature I felt completely at peace and terrified at the same time.
In 1982 the Lawn Lake Dam, which is 6 miles above the water fall, burst and let loose loose 674 acre-feet of water down the Roaring River. The water flowed strongly and in less than four hours, three people were killed and $31 million in public and private damages, cleanup, and economic loss were incurred.

We hung out in this path of destruction that occurred when I was just 6 years old. The sound of the water was loud, the spray from the water was cold, and the size of the water fall was just incredible!
What have you exploring this summer?

Beautiful.
