After playing in the garden this Sunday morning, the kids and I decided to round up some art supplies and do some Spring crafting. I have always envied my sewing friends for the simple reason of wanting to make bunting or banners for the kids rooms. I love the way it turns a blank wall into a festive, cheery, and fun space. I got some sheets of felt out and decided it was time for the kids and I to create some bunting using the skills we have (cutting and gluing).
What we used:
Felt Sheets in various colors size 6"x12" as well as scraps for decorating
yarn or string
scissors
glue
stapler
How we did it:

Cut out sheets of felt into 6"x12" pieces. Cut one of the 6" sides to form a point. Lay the yarn across the other 6" end and fold it over the yarn securing it with staples. (I used 3 sheets, but feel free to go nuts with as many as you like).
Now comes the fun part...decorate your felt sheets with whatever you like. We used Spring images such as sunshine, butterflies, rainbows, and lady bugs. We cut out the shapes using our scrap felt, then glued them on.
Then we hung it on a blank wall and created a bright and springy addition to Magnolia's room!
Enjoy

Suzy, I love your bunting! I have been wanting to make one of those forever..each holiday I forget. I plan to add this to our spring fun this week and just use felt! Thanks for the inspiration!

ReplyDeleteHappy weekending!
It's totally adorable! I've never thought of decorating the individual pieces of bunting before--I've just cut fabric and called it a day. Great idea.
ReplyDeleteVery cute. My boys like the ladybug best. I think we'll do one for their bedroom. Thanks for sharing, Suzy!
