I recently started baking my own bread and have struggled to get it 'just right'. I am not searching for perfection, just something easy and delicious that my family can enjoy. A few friends suggested the book "Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day"...I walked by this book several times at our local book store resisting the urge to buy because of the price tag. Then I finally got a hold of it from our library and it completely changed my bread baking experience!

I had this book from the library for one week, until I decided I needed to own it! The idea behind the book is that you can make up a large batch of dough (enough for 4 1 lb loafs or more) to be refrigerated for up to 14 days and baked when needed. The instructions are easy and fun and make the most delicious bread I have ever made! I have been experimenting with homemade pizza using this dough and the family has been very pleased! There are many recipes in this book using different variations of ingredients, rest times, and bake times. If you haven't checked out this book yet, I would highly recommend it!!

This book has been on my list for so long. You're making it sound so tempting! I currently mix my bread in the bread machine and bake it in the oven, but I'm seriously contemplating the shift into fully making it myself. I'll see if we have this book in our library.
ReplyDeleteIf you can all find a back issue of *Mother Earth News* from about April last year, it has an article about this very book, with the simple ingredients listed, I tried it, and absolutly love how it's been working so easy for our family! Fresh bread smells so heavenly doesn't it?
