Anniversary Contest: Sarah

To be green this summer ( and the rest of our lives) we found a house that already had rain barrels, a hot water heater on top of the wood stove for winter water, a summer hot water heater in the garage that has clear panels for a roof. We are also members of a CSA, plan on canning and freezing all kinds of goodies that the harvest provides. We are going to be building a solar shower outside, gave up a pool in favor of swimming in the creek, getting rid of 1 car, not buying anything for house or self that is brand new- everything is hand-made or second-hand, we are going to build a solar oven , brewing our own kombucha, not using any harmful cleansers in our house, using only soap we make, making our own breads, pizza, sweets, etc.
